Gallery Nights Reception: Jessica Shasha
Join us for an opening reception for local artist, Jessica Shasha on Thursday, June 4th from 6-8pm.
Meet Jessica:
Jessica Shasha is a classically trained fine artist, who graduated simultaneously from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art and the University of Pennsylvania with degrees in Fine Art and Art History.
Her paintings are rooted in classical representation however, her work deviates from pure realism to create a gestural and surreal visual narrative that speaks to the changing nature of light as it plays across a subject.
Shasha has worked as a portrait artist for the past decade, but recently she made a shift in her subject matter. "Painting flowers doesn't feel so different from painting portraits. I'm still working towards capturing something living, but now because of their relatability, symbolism and beauty, flowers are my subject matter."
