Our Mission Statement

This is a place where children and adults may come to express their inherent creative nature; to learn about the world of art and its capacity to make whole the individual, enriching the community and beyond. - Established 1995

History

Stumptown Art Studio, established in 1995 in Whitefish, Montana, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community art center dedicated to fostering creativity among individuals of all ages and abilities.  Located in the heart of downtown Whitefish, S.A.S offers various art opportunities, including classes, workshops, and field trips as well as offsite outreach programs with our traveling art mobile, the Van Gogh, allowing us to visit schools and community organizations who can’t come to us.

With a focus on enriching the community through art, Stumptown Art Studio also features a fully equipped Clay Studio, offering pottery classes, open clay studio times and provides a platform for artistic expression, education, and community building.

S.A.S also offers drop-in art opportunities all year long with our open studio options of paint your-own-pottery, glass fusing and canvas painting. These options create a welcoming space for all ages to explore their artistic sides with ease and accessibility.
